Phoenix stood anxiously at in the bar. Her eyes shot side to side waiting for the men to look away from her. The scrutiny she always seemed to be under was unbearable. Although, the captive was used to it. All she wanted was another chance to escape. There had to be away to get off that ship for good.
This is it. Phoenix thought. She stared longingly out the door to freedom. It was still miles away, yet so close. I'm almost free. I'm gonna get away finally. Then find someone to take me home to Denmark.
She smiled and ran her fingers through her short blonde hair. Phoenix was used to the salt tasty that always filled the air, the cold, and the ship's rocking. Her dress was still in good condition, vitually. There were a few rips and stains around the bottom, but it was too long anyway. Phoenix bent over, one elbow on the molding of the wall, and rested her head in on her hand. "Today's the day."

"B-But, I am old enough!" Kaito protested, trying to get through the tall and older men who shoved him away from the entrance into the bar. Whenever members of the crew came to this bar, he was always shoved outside and was forced to wait for the others; he disliked coming here, there wasn't much company since most of the members of the Black Bolt would hang around here ,"I-I'm not a kid! I'm not! I'm being honest, I tell you!"
Kaito was pushed back outside again and landed on his behind, he pouted, tilting his hat a little. How can I prove them wrong? he wondered, finding no proof he can give them as he stood up, dusting himself. The seventeen year-old smiled, sneakily walking around the building, scanning for a backdoor. He rubbed his nose warily, the stench of rum was strong as he walked up to a door. Kaito slowly looked around, silently opening the door and walked in, meeting an even stronger stench of rum.
So... this is what the fuss is all about? Kaito dryly thought, trying to get comfortable as he took a step in and slowly closed the door.

Phoenix's eyes were glued to the table of pirates a few feet infront of her. The stench of beer and the booming noise were giving her a headache. More than anything she just wanted to get out of that bar. Then the door next to her was suddenly thrown open and she watched Kaito walk in.
"Just what I need," Phoenix muttered. "Another one of the idiots to watch me. Why do they keep me around, I don't do anything?" She watched him move angrily. Knowing he'd been thrown out again. The captive stiffled a giggle, he was still too close for her comfort.

Kaito blinked, feeling a pair of eyes on him. He curiously looked around, wondering where the intimidating feeling came from, and found himself looking at a familiar captive from the ship ,"Hey~!" he cheerfully greeted, his voice was kind of low, trying not to gain the attentions of the two pirates that guarded the front door of the bar. Kaito's eye narrowed, making himself comfortable on a chair that was nearby as he stood feets away from the girl.
"Um... I am just wondering, but... how can you stand it here? I mean... you being watched and stuff..." Kaito meekly mumbled, putting his hands on his lap as he glanced at the pirates who drank their beer. He cringed at their loud laughter that nearly felt like an earthquake. Wow... and I always wanted to come here; but now I regret even coming in here..

"I can't," Phoenix spat. She glared daggers at him, hating him with a passion. "I want to go home." She held back the pain and fear that she'd felt for the past two years. The captive didn't believe Kaito was as bad as his name said. But she still was afraid of what he could do. Phoenix shivered from the cold and the cruel voices at the table.

Kaito only smiled at her simple words and nodded ,"Home must be really nice for you..." he softly mumbled, he hadn't heard that word in a long time. Home... Kaito's eye dimmed as he leaned against the chair, he didn't want to hear that word ever again, it was like a curse. -... I don't want to go back to that cage! I don't... his ears perked as he froze for a moment. That's right! I-I can't let my guard down! T-They are looking for me!
"Not the cage..." Kaito whispered, shivering a little.

"Not that you have to worry about being captive," Phoenix scowled. "You're carefree on that ship, with no duties but to keep it floating. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't hate the lot of you." She was holding in all that she felt, not wanting anyone to look. The only one she wanted to hear her was Kaito. The captive didn't think he do anything to her if she pushed the wrong buttons.
Phoenix hadn't been sure about anything in a long time. Nothing ver seemed to be written in stone to these people.

"Why you shouldn't hate us? Umm, well... not all of us are that bad. I just work on the ship to..." Kaito trailed off, yet again. -... to escape from 'them'. he shrugged it off, wanting to get rid of the thoughts of 'home' and smiled warmly to the captive, waiting for her reply. Kaito wondered how this girl has gotten captived by them; in his opinion, he thought she was kind of nice. His eyes darted across the room nervously, hearing some voices.
"Where's that maggot?! Wasn't he here a second ago!? Don't tell me he...-"
Kaito figgeted a little at the gruff voices from the front entrance. They're going to find me in here...

Phoenix thought of shouting that he was over here, but something he'd said hit her. She wasn't sure what it was, maybe it was his smile. "But... y..y..you all help them keep me here," she fumbled for words. The captive could feel the burning gazes of different man around the bar. "I can't stand it in here. I have to get out!" Phoenix turned swiftly and grabbed the knob, her hand shaking nervously. She knew she wasn't supposed to go anywhere without one of the crewmen with her.
I've gotta get away from these people. But I can't risk another sword fight, I'm not good enough yet. Her hand touched the sword at her side. The metal felt cool under her fingers.

"Aye! LOOK! There he is! GET 'EM!" one of the guards pointed at him, running inside the bar as they slowly tried to get through the many people who stood in the way, drinking beer and flirting with women.
"But... y..y..you all help them keep me here,"
Kaito glanced at the backdoor and at the captive, still smiling at her as he shifted his attention at the pirates and back at her ,"Haha, I'm just an innocent bystander compared to those kinds of pirates; you say you want to escape, right? I'll..." he cut himself off, thinking of the consequences he can face. I'll have to escape and keep running forever if I help her, but... she wants to go home.
"-... help you get out!" Kaito softly responded, trying not to make it obvious he was helping the captured girl. The seventeen year-old turned to his fellow crewmen, making sure they weren't watching; but the guards came closer. "Ah! I'm sorry, but..." he shoved the girl through the door.

"Wha...What?" Phoenix said as she flew out the door. As much as she wanted to go home she couldn't let Kaito get in trouble because of her. She wanted to help him, he was the first person to be nice to her on the Black Bolt. All I wanted to get out of that room. She thought. I'd never find a way home here, but I can help Kaito.
"I wanna help you," Phoenix said. "Follow my lead. I won't let them hurt you."

Kaito closed the door shut and took a deep breathe, wondering if he had to try to over-run the guards like the other days he had tried to get in the bar. He was stucked out of his thoughts at Phoenix's words ,"W-What? B-But... - you sure? This can be your chance to escape! I mean... - that is..." he jumped away from the door, surprised by the loud banging from it. They're coming!
"O-Okay, I-I'm following!" Kaito stammered, waiting for her to lead the way. His eyes lightened as he found a stick in the corner ,"... Perfect.." he purred, grabbing the stick as he put it across the door ,".. that should buy us time." Kaito cheekily grinned, glancing at the captived girl. Why would she want to help me? Ah! The door can't hold out much longer! he frantically thought, taking a few steps away from the door.

"Alright," Phoenix took a deep breath. "Listen. We have to proove to them that you aren't the one-Eyed Shark. We'll tell them you just had surgery on your eye and you thought you were going into our father's pub. But we only have to do that if they catch us. For now let's just run."
The captive motioned for him to follow her down a darkened alley. She didn't take his hand or let him touch her at all. Human contact was her phobia and she hated it when people even tapped her shoulder. Phoenix's bare feet pounded the street as she ran quickly to the end and waited for him to catch up.

Kaito slowly nodded, letting her words sink into his mind. Surgery, father's pub, and... run! he kicked himself out of his thoughts, realizing that he had not began to run, but he eventually did and followed the captive. Kaito faintly smiled, his eye fixed onto the girl as he quickly caught up with her ,"You know, you really didn't have to help me. I'll only cause more trouble for you..." he softly murmured, looking over his shoulders to see if the two guards were there - but they weren't.
The seventeen year-old pirate sighed in relief, but was soon alerted when he heard the loud and gruff voices yelling. They won't really buy the idea that I had surgery if we are not in disguise. he dryly thought, his attention on two black fabrics laying on a wooden crate ,"Yeah..." Kaito whispered, sweeping his arm to grab the fabrics ,"-... here, take this!" he told the captive, throwing one black fabric to Phoenix.
Kaito quickly covered himself with the fabric, covering half of his face as he began to slow his pace, trying hard not to look suspicious.
"Where'd he go?! C'mon, let's ask those folks right there! They must've seen somethin'!" one of the guards stated, pointing at them both as they walked closer to their dismay.

Phoenix caught it, and wrapped it around her shoulders as a cloak. "Don' worry about me. I was being foolish, I'd just end up stuck here anyway with no place ta go." She smiled at the men coming over toward them. Here goes. They seem dumb, I'm sure they'll buy a quick made story. The people back home were harder to trick. Although I almost never got in touble. The captive thought.
She smiled at Kaito through the darkness. It was almost pitchblack outside. These men wouldn't figure them out easily.
