Eighteen year old Kairi Alexis Hemingway sat on the decks of the Black Bolt, her hair blowing in the sweet, sea-salted breeze that moved around her. Her green eyes were fixed upon a piece of parchment, and her hands held the parchment firmly as she read. A smile was pulling at the corner of her mouth.
It had been a little over a month since Debbie and Kairi had parted in Port Royale, and Kairi was pleased to hear from her friend. She had been a bit upset at losing her friend to William Turner, but she had quickly gotten over it, and instead began to spend more time with her mate, Captain Lekeb Raiden.
Kairi smiled, and continued reading the letter, her eyes shining as she did so.

The letter that she was reading at this moment, was the first one to tell Kairi something special.
"Dearest Kairi Hemingway,
I am writing this letter as a very appreciated thank you. I do know how much my constant mention of one William Turner must have annoyed you when we were aboard the Black Bolt.
This letter is to tell you that that annoyance had paid off. For after meeting up with Will once again, thanks to you, I have spent a lot of time getting to know him better? If that is even possible, seeing how many we had known each other before hand.
Will has graciously asked me for his hand in marriage. A gesture that I have gratefully accepted, I am to soon marry, Will. I think that this would be an appropriate situation for you to come back on land and see me, don’t you agree? I hope you agree with me.
This shall be my most favoured day in my life – a close second would be meeting Will once again. Once more, I thank you for that and owe you a lot. Indeed knowing this, this letter is also a request. A request, that you would attend my wedding as not only my guest but also my maid of honour. I would love for you and your captain to come to the wedding.
Seeing as I will not have my parents at the wedding as they believe that me marrying a blacksmith is terrible, I could do with many people there for Will and I. This letter was very short, I do realise that but I would hope that you would agree to my request and come to the wedding. I shall hope to write to you after your reply, with a date if you agree.
Thank you, All my love, my dear best friend Deborah Cochrane"

Kairi smiled, then picked up a piece of spare parchment from her place on the deck, and began to write. Once she had completed it, she shipped it off to Debbie, smiling brightly. She stood, securing the parchment pile once more, leaning against the side of the ship. She missed her friend terribly, but it wouldn't be long before she saw her again.

PORT ROYALE:-
After kissing her fiancée goodbye, as he was off to work, Debbie smiled as she realised there was a letter waiting for her. She couldn’t wait to hear from her friend again, she was hoping that this was the letter she was waiting for: “Oh! I remember that handwriting!” She smiled as she opened the piece of parchment and reading the letter to herself.”

Dearest Debbie,
It has been so long since I've heard from you! How have things been in Port Royale? The BlackBolt's crew has been....well, terrible, to say the least. Not that it's anything Lekeb and I are not used to, of course. We made it official in Edinborough over the month, so Lekeb and I are now happily married. We would be delighted to attend yours and young William's wedding. We haven't seen either of you in a while, and we have things we need to catch up on. I look forward to seeing you, Debbie, and I've missed you so much. it's like having no light on a cloudy, pitch black night on the sea. It's hard, but I'm dealing. I will set aside whichever date you choose, and we both shall attend.
All my love, ~Kairi Alexis Hemingway~

After recieving the letter from Kairi, Debbie smiled and then started to write the next one to be sent to the Black Bolt. She placed her hand on her stomach biting her bottom lip. Yes, she would write it...
"Dearest Kairi,
Things in Port Royale are as they always are. I cannot believe that I hadn’t been back before hand. I must say I am glad to hear from you, as I do know how you feel about being parted. Yet to be with our partners is one thing that has come out of it.
Yes, seeing as we haven’t seen either of you in a while, my wedding to William should be more of the most special day that I could ever have wished for. I have missed you so much more than before but seeing you once again will make my special day even better.
It would appear that my rather proper fiancée has set aside all that he had been taught when he was younger. Yes, I must say I do not mind this particular one. With us both being brought up to be prepared to give all on our wedding night it is rather awkward that we have already made love.
Although I must say, my dreams were nothing like the real thing. There is one thing that I must tell you about. You are the only one to know, as I cannot bear to tell William as of yet. I do think that I may be with child. I haven’t been feeling normal for the past week – that and I have had a slight case of morning sickness. So it is most likely that I am pregnant.
Well I shall tell you more in future letters, my dear best friend. Also the date for the wedding is in one week of today’s date. I cannot wait to see you. William sends his regards. He says that he cannot wait to see you. Let’s hope he does not read what I write or my secret may be revealed. I am glad he works early, so he does not know about the sickness.
Forever friends, With all my love, Deborah Cochrane"

Kairi smiled as she read the letter that she had recently recieved, and picked up her parchment and pen, and began to write in her simple yet very neat script.
Debbie,
The news you have told me is simply wonderful, dearest, and I hope you are, for I know you have always wanted children of your own. As for the wedding date, Lekeb and I will both be in attendance, my dear. We both cannot wait to see you, and Lekeb sends her regards as well. I, shockingly, am also with child. I have no notion as to how it happened, but it did. I won't mention what we did in order for me to guess this, but I'm guessing a certain part of Lekeb has a male tendency. (her tail, if you wish to know).
As for other news, Lekeb and I had a simple ceremony of our own, by her parents graves. It is what we both wished for, and I respected Lekeb's decision to keep it private. I'm pleased for you, my dearest friend, and I hope you are happy with William. Please send him my regards, as well as Lekeb's.
I cannot wait to see you both again, and I wish you best of luck with your pregnancy. And I know you will look simply stunning on your wedding day, love.
All my love, ~Kairi

PORT ROYALE - THE NEWLYWEDS POST
She fumbled with the wedding ring, surrounding her long fingers; she smiled, as it was time she replied to her friend. She was going to talk to her so happily now that she was married and that her baby was on the way. She was also including a photograph of William and herself on their wedding day. Maybe she did look beautiful.
Dearest Kairi,
I am simply happy about the news of your pregnancy, it did shock me to hear but I am happy for you. I told you that at my wedding anyway, I couldn’t believe that I am actually Mrs. Deborah Turner until now. I hope that I looked alright in my wedding dress. William said that I looked absolutely divine. I couldn’t stand to be away from him when we weren’t allowed to see each other on the night before the wedding.
As on my news about the baby, I have just told William although I’m not sure about how he will react yet for I wrote him a letter to explain to him. I found that the best way for me to get my feelings straight. I love William so much and our child will be loved and well looking after, especially as we are now married and mother ahs promised to help us financially. Not that we need her help but with the baby coming I couldn’t refuse.
Tell me, what has happened in your life. Good luck with your pregnancy, and I hope to find out how you and Lekeb are soon. I miss you loads.
All My Love Forever Friends Deborah Turner
- Oh it felt just right writing that.

Kairi read and re-read the letter, a smile pulling at the corners of her mouth at the same place. She looked up at where Lekeb stood at the helm, and smiled before picking up some parchment, and began to write.
Debbie, I am so pleased with the news you delivered in your last letter! That photo is simply stunning, and you looked positively perfect on yours and William's wedding day. I am also pleased that everyone is doing well, especially you and your unborn child. Please pass my regards on to your mother, for I loved her as my own after the death of mine. Life on the Black Bolt has changed dramatically over the course of the months. The crew no longer back talk me, because I am the captain's wife. Its nice to finally have earned some respect from the crew, as that is what I have been striving to get for a while now. There have been a few new deaths in the crew, and we filled some new posts. I am pleased with our newer crewmembers, for they get work done without complaint.
As for Lekeb and I, we both couldn't be happier. She knows about my pregnancy now, and was a little skeptical at first, but she is rather excited about becoming the "father-figure" for our child or children. Lekeb came down sick a few weeks ago, and I gave up my post to one of our more reliable members while I was taking care of her. She means the world to me, so I don't like it when she's not herself. She's back to normal now, and still keeps a close eye on me. She's not like most captains; she keeps me close to her at all times. Even now, as I am writing this letter to you, she is holding me close. I love her dearly, and I am glad I can call her my own.
As for me, I am doing wonderful. I am healthy, and our unborn child or children is/are as well. I miss you dearly, Debbie, and I do hope to see you soon. I have a hunch my child or children will be born here, on the Black Bolt, but do let me know when you are due. I want to be there for you, just like our parents were, remember? I can't wait to see you (and your child) again, and I know it shall be as beautiful as it's parents.
All my love, Dearest Friends, Kairi Raiden

Debbie was smiling brightly as she read the letter. Then she decided to put pen to paper whilst replying to the letter. She felt a hand creep around her side to touch her stomach and she giggled knowing that William wanted to see what she was writing.
Dearest Kairi,
I am simply thrilled to hear about you and Lakeb’s marriage and that you are doing well. I cannot wait to see you again. It feels like ages since I have last heard from you when it has only been a few weeks. You two are one of the most perfect couples I have ever met I do hope that Lakeb is feeling much better.
The Black Bolt will be interesting places to be on if you do have your children there. I do know that when I give birth it shall be at home where William and I live. William was very happy to hear about our unborn child. He took the whole day off of work just to fuss over me. I did tell him that it wasn’t needed but I suppose to have a husband like William I shouldn’t complain.
My due date has been confirmed; only a few months away and I cannot wait to have you there with William and I. I do remember about our parents being together when we were born. It would only be customary to follow in their footsteps. Mother was thrilled to hear from you too, Kairi. I must say we have been discussing baby names and have come to an agreement on what we would call our child if it were to become a girl.
Piper.
I believe it is a very unique and divine name. Although I do find myself enjoying the name Lucinda as well. I’m not really sure what name I’ll end up sticking with but I am sure that William will be there to help me out when the time comes. Have you discussed names yet? I cannot wait to hear from you my dear friend. With all my love Forever Friends Deborah Turner

Kairi smiled as she read the letter, laughing a little bit. She looked at her own stomach, and smiled. Her own due date was in a few months as well, maybe slightly after Debbie's.
Dearest Debbie, It seems we not only have our "sistership" in common, but our due dates as well! Oh how exciting it would be if we had our babies on the same day! I cannot wait to see you again, my dear, and Lekeb was thrilled to hear from you as was I. She sends her regards as well, and is doing much better. She's got me in her lap as I'm writing this actually, and she's spying on me as I write it. She hates to admit it, but she can be quite affectionate. Ha, I looked at her a moment, and she's blushing, dearest. Oh how fun it is to tease her. We both miss you terribly, and I like both of the names you were thinking of for your child.
Lekeb and I have also been discussing names, and we have decided on two:
Sai Haruka-Ai Raiden
and
Akaisha Kameko-Ai Raiden
We're both very excited for the birth of our child or children, though to me it feels like I'm having twins. I do hope so, for Lekeb is rather excited about the whole thing. And I agree with you, it does feel like ages since I've last talked to you, even though it has only been a few weeks. These letters take an awful long time to get to you and I, though me, being on a ship, its not surprising. I do hope you and William are well as is your mother. Please pass along both mine and Lekeb's regards to your parents and siblings, for I remember your brother well.
Take care my dear, and make sure to write often. At least until we see each other again. There is a photo of me and Lekeb enclosed in this letter, along with a drawing, a belated wedding gift for you and dearest William.
All my love, Forever Sisters, Kairi
Kairi sealed the letter, added the photo, and a drawing of Debbie and William when they were teens, smiling and playing around. She smiled, and sealed the contents in an envelope, and sent it off.

She smiled softly reading what she had written before putting the letter down. William was behind her once more, he had her in his arms, his hands traveling down to the small bump that was forming. She sighed but smiled before writing.
Dearest Kairi,
First of all, the picture is beautiful and the drawing brings back so many memories that William framed it and put it up on our livingroom wall - your photograph went aside ours. We do care about you a lot, dearest Kairi and Lekeb.
I had a shock today, it seems we have even more in common than we thought. I was having a check up with my local doctor, you remember Stephan don’t you? Well he says that my progress and development is too developed for just one baby and it is thought that I may be carrying more than just the one I was hoping for.
If Stephan is right then it would appear that you wouldn’t be only a godmother to one child then perhaps even two. Oh, I don’t think William knew about the prognosis of my check up and he is holding me around the waist right now. He’s gone pale. Oops, I should have told him beforehand. He really shouldn’t be reading this letter though… it is pretty personal this letter.
Yes I managed to get a word into Phillip. Yes he says that he remembers asking you to marry him. Then how you refused. He is very happy for you know though, my dear and says that he would love to see you and Lakeb on his travels on his ship. He is at the moment bringing food to Port Royale under disguise as an officer.
I do wish you luck with your children, if it feels like twins then I bet it will be. I cannot wait to see you and your children, when they arrive, I suppose it is pretty strange that we could end up giving birth on the same day. Oh and as for names, we have changed them a little if we were to have two girls we have chosen Lucinda and Pippa Turner and if it were two boys Lei and Eli Turner.
I do miss you, Your going to be the godmother and aunts to my child – or children if the doctor is right. I cannot wait to hear from you and Lekeb. Forever Sisters From the bottom of my heart Love Deborah Turner.
Yes, she knew that would do it. She turned to a pale William sighed before mailing the letter.

Dearest Debbie, I am sorry for not replying to your letter sooner than this. Lately, it has been a complex task to do as I normally do everyday, and I've got Lekeb extremely concerned. As of right now, we are journeying to Port Royale, where I will be needing to see Stephan again. I haven't seen him for a while, but I think my condition merits his opinion.
It hurts me to burden Lekeb with all of this, and I wish she would relax, but she's given up her post to Riley, our most reliable First Level Crewman. He's not done anything to hurt us, so Lekeb's trusting him with this. I hope to see you soon, love.
All my love, Kairi

She balanced Pippa on her lap carefully as she started to write a reply back to Kairi from their latest letter back to her. Debbie smiled softly as she finally felt fit enough to write to her sister. She looked at the two photographs she had to send this time, replucas of those beside the wedding photographs of both famlies.
The letter read:-
Dearest Kairi,
Gosh its been a while since we last wrote to each other but giving the circumstances I think it is a good thing we haven’t tried to. I know I probably would have been cranky trying to write with Lucinda and Pippa crying all the time. Lucinda is a healthy young girl who cries a lot, keeping William up all night – I swear he is going to go mad, she only cries with him, she’s fine with me. Pippa just loves all the attention she can have.
How are you sweetie? How are the twins? I bet its lovely on the Black Bolt right now. I am serious though, I am very happy to write to you once again for I have missed talking to you. I am enclosing two photographs this time. One of me holding Lucinda and the other of Will and Pippa... I do hope you like them – you can tell just how identical my girls – your goddaughters are. We are having them christened soon, I hope you and Lekeb can make it.
For William and I have come to a conclusion that Lekeb should be a second godmother to our children in place of their godfather. We would be ever so happy if she were to accept. I hope she doesn’t mind such an informal asking on our behalf. I am happy to tell you that my condition is better and I am less tired. William is back to work and mother has hired a babysitter to help us around the house. I do think that we could manage on our own though. Thank you for your letter. I love reading them.
Thank you From the bottom of my heart Forever Sisters Deborah Turner [witnessed by William, Lucinda and Pippa Turner]
And with that she sealed the letter in an envelope and she sent it off to The Black Bolt.

Kairi laughed as she read the letter, and quickly picked up her pen and parchment.
Debbie, Yes, indeed it has been a while, but I do agree with the way you see it. It's been hard on Lekeb and I both, seeing as how we both captain the ship, but it's getting better. We're finally adjusting to having the twins on board. Speaking of the twins, they're both perfectly fine. Sai and Akaisha both adore Lekeb and I, and the crew adore them as well. The Black Bolt is definately a little more cheerful now that we have two mini pirates crawling around.
As for the photos, they are lovely, darling. Both of my goddaughters are wonderfully beautiful, just like their parents. You and William both look incredibly healthy and happy, something Lekeb and I are very pleased to see. I am also enclosing photos, as well as a few drawings done in my spare time. You know how things can get on the Black Bolt if you've got nothing to do. Though, saying that, the twins hardly cry. They love being on the ship, and get into EVERYTHING they can find. Only yesterday did Sai and Akaisha find the deck varnish. Luckily, Riley caught them before they ate it. - -
As for becoming a second godmother, Lekeb has graciously agreed to do so. She says it will be good for her. Also, we are going to be in Port Royale in about 5 weeks, hopefully that will be soon enough for your family. I cannot wait to see everyone again, for this time, I'll have my beautiful daughters to show off. Lekeb says in regards to the informality that it is perfectly alright. Formalities arent really her type of thing, as you know. All of us have been doing well, and each of the members of the crew take turns watching the twins if Lekeb and I are both busy with the ship. They love having the twins here, and its a load of fun on board now.
Hoping to see you soon, Forever sisters,
Kairi Raiden [As witnessed by Lekeb, Sai, and Akaisha Raiden]
